BGWSD - ELECTION JUDGES NEEDED
Being an Election Judge is a great way to serve your community while experiencing the process of one of our fundamental rights.
Qualifications
To be a Judge you need to be at least 18 years old and registered to vote in Colorado. You do not need to be registered in the District. You must have never been convicted of a felony, nor be a candidate or a family member of a candidate. If you are actively campaigning for a candidate, you may not be in the best position to serve as judge.
Skills needed include basic computer skills, including performing web-based data searches and using an Excel spreadsheet or Google spreadsheet with accuracy and efficiency. Judges are required to have a high level of attention to detail and be able to communicate effectively with other judges and work as a team.
What will I be doing?
In a mail ballot election, Judges are charged with verifying eligibility of returned ballot envelopes, receipting envelopes in, taking steps to ensure voter secrecy, tallying votes cast, and reconciling ballots. Judges are also charged with preparing the Abstract of Votes.
When?
You will work on Election Day, May 6, 2025. Your shift will begin early afternoon and will end whenever the process is over, generally anticipated to be between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. You will also be required to attend a training session prior to beginning your work. The date and time will be determined based on Judges’ availability.
Judges will return for a second work shift for the final count immediately prior to Canvass. This will be approximately 1 hour of work that will fall between May 15 and May 20. Specific time and date TBD.
